Mental health and changing lifestyle

Mental health and changing lifestyle

Hi readers , it’s been a long time since we have been active on our platform.  So for the comeback we are here with something everyone will connect with. This topic seems to be outdated , seriously? If you think so ,you don’t know what exactly it is. Each have their own point of view and following will be of mine which  I think will be unique. But why am I declaring my own content as unique , because I have thousands of personal experiences that I thought would be helpful for you all . In this blog main focus will be on someone who is living with a poor mental health due to changing lifestyle and people living and for everyone.

Why to ponder over it?

First of all why should be discussing about mental health . There are many reasons of doing so , firstly , Changing lifestyle of all of us. No one can ignore this point as we all accept our lifestyle has changed drastically. Not only as compared to generation before us, but the rate is so high that within a year major technological changes have occurred. I never ever thought that we will be indulged in technology so deeply that a smartphone will become a necessity not a luxury. There was a time when having a smartphone in a family was luxury but see now in most of the families each and every member have their own smartphone.

families each and every member have their own smartphone.

Ok too much lecture on smartphones I should move on next point. Secondly , dreams and expectations , but why dreaming of something and expecting something in life be dangerous . There is a very famous dialogue in movie “ Chhichhore” of Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput , “ success ke baad ke plan sabke pas hai , magar galti se Insaan fail ho jaye to failure ko handle kaise kare  ispe koi baat hi nahi karta” pardon if these are not the exact words . Having big dreams is commendable , one should dream as much big as he can but simultaneously comparing their hard work and dedication for it. If that’s not that par please start of by achieving small things and that small achievement will provide you with confidence .

Thirdly , data which shows people suffering from mental illness . There are two parts in these data release. One is overall i.e. world trend in degrading mental health due to day to day changes in lifestyle . And another is more situation specific i.e. COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown. Both of them are dangerous if not talked properly. You see various surveys published in newspapers about how mental health has been affected by lockdown. Here I mention a survey by ICMR , AIIMS, Safdar Jung hostpital via online Google form. It asks for rating how much you see yourself affected on various parameters.

It states that about 28.2% of population is suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder ( PTSD) . In the first phase of lockdown that kicked off after Janta curfew , almost 55% of surveyed showed quite a bit of sleeping problems and almost 7% voted for extreme difficulty in sleeping time .

Almost 40% chose the option for significant increase in irritation and almost 10% showed extreme level of irritation.

And similar data is for other mental issues . It is concluded that approx 20% of the people need proper medical support to tackle these situations.

Lastly , I will see students’ situation a complete different section within the second topic which stated dreams and expectations. The difficulty everyone have faced is unique in itself , be it financial , emotional , jobs , house maintenance and many more but what have happened to innocent students is less talked about in any media outlet. Now a days, it stereotype that ,  if a student of class 11 and above  is not living hundreds of miles away from the family , then he doesn’t have a good future and he is not studying properly. In this flow many students unknowingly of their fragile emotional nature of which they are unaware of move to big educational hubs like Kota , Delhi etc. Myself have been in kota and now residing in Delhi it’s common now a days. But see those who have been so far away from their families studying hard having daily routine living within a student environment and all of a sudden they are said to wrap up , if you wanna live go home. Basically I am not criticising the government for its decision to push lockdown , and now we are in the situation from which we have to decide how to get back to work . Problem arises from here , in lockdown majority of students have developed a tendency that they don’t need to study anymore. The sense of fear have grabbed everyone so hard that at some point most  of you might have thought it’s end of the world. It’s very difficult for someone to suddenly get back to work . It might be a motivation for a earning person that he needs to earn for his/her family , and at that age maturity is developed in each one . But for a small child of teenage or below , it’s difficult to swallow because now everyone is in comfort zone . If you ask a child of primary classes about , his/her will to join school again , I am quite sure the answer will be no.  Similarly the one who was preparing for exams like JEE/NEET it’s already got fame in pressurising students now pandemic has added salt to injury. Most of the students were in the rest mode and now they see darkness ahead from where to start next.

online class stress

A new culture of online classes is a bit new to most of them. It took a lot of time for students to accept it as formal way of studying. Lack of teacher Student interaction is major factor that lead to looseness in students regarding studies.

So after a long discussion about why we should talk of mental health we should move on , how to deal with it.

How to approach something

In first point I talked about changes in life style and how it affects our mental health. By the universal principle of “diamond cuts diamond” i.e. mentally answering mental stress. There are various ways of living life , out of those I will classify it in three categories.

1. Living a life

2. Live a good life

3. Living an ethical life

Dealing with various situations in life is like governing over somebody , and here you are both the governor and governed. Just living a life is like a dictator ruling over a territory. Rules are the words of the monarch, either it’s very fruitful or least fruitful and here you are gambling half of your chances of being better off.

Living a good life is like whatever your less eligible mind thinks good is good. It’s more profit centric and has less room for humanity and culture.

These two are very old approach and are not according to changing circumstances in the modern world. Now you need to be more acceptable to various situations , have clear mind-set and be ready for harsh situation coming ahead . This is called living ethical life. In it your ethics play a major part. You are dominated by your humane nature , more adaptable to the society more mixed and have a say in development of society.

So one can handle his problematic situation easily if he/she thinks ethically. Ethics in broader sense means a quality in person to distinguish between right or wrong. If one masters this art it’s never looking back again.

If you ask me to categories myself , I will say I am in a transition phase from less ethical to increasing ethical character in myself, it’s not a single chapter or a book that teaches you how to deal with your problems and develop ethics in yourself. It comes by age and after heavy shocks that you receive big failures and shattered dreams and how you handle it.

For students of my age its bit confusing how to move ahead and what’s next, bangs head day in and out. Basically. To tell what’s next is not anyone’s cup of tea. So just keep moving keeping least stress as you can. When you gamble you bet on something where you inflict least damage on yourself.

This blog was a small experiment from my side to come out of the box and write something that doesn’t has any relation with a particular subject. Mental illness is on the verge of next probable pandemic if not handled properly. Hope you liked my blog on it . It’s never less never enough to discuss anything and especially something that has relation with world’s fastest computer i.e. human brain……

Have you ever considered about adding a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is important and all. Nevertheless think
of if you added some great graphics or video clips to give your posts more, “pop”!
Your content is excellent but with images and video clips,
this site could definitely be one of the best
    in its niche. Great blog!
